This past Monday two Columbus replica ships the ‘Nina’ and 'Pinta’, docked at Tampa Convention Center and are open for viewing this Easter Weekend until they sail away early next Wednesday morning, March 30th.

Built completely by hand without power tools the Nina is touted as “the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built.” The Pinta, recently built in Brazil, is a larger version of the what is historically called a 'caravel', a Portuguese ship explorers used to discover the world. Explore history this weekend aboard the Nina and Pinta before they sail away.

Together this ‘sailing museum’ provides a rare opportunity for residents of Tampa Bay to experience what it was like for the seamen of old.  We stopped by this amazing exhibit and were surprised by a number of things.  In school, often a picture is painted in our heads as we are 'taught' history.  Here in Tampa Bay we have the opportunity for the next few days to experience a part of it by boarding these ships!

We will keep our 'surprises' to ourselves and allow you to discover the differences for yourselves!  Be sure to come back and leave a comment below!!
