Now that we're pretty much knocking on summer's door with the weather reaching terribly sweltering levels and rainfall becoming less of a surprise, we can look forward to a handful of summer holidays sure to make these hot, sticky months a tad more bearable.

The biggest of all of them may just be the 4th of July, the celebration of our nation's independence.  Every year, those from Tampa Bay and beyond bust out the grills, fireworks, beer, and whatever else they need to celebrate this momentous occasion with the ones they love.

This year, July 4th falls on a Wednesday, which may be a bummer for those working 9 to 5's, but surely won't stop a handful of great establishments throughout the Tampa Bay area from celebrating our nations independence.

One of the best places for getting out of the house and celebrating the Fourth of July in Tampa in a fun, family-friendly environment is the 4th of July celebration at Channelside Bay Plaza.  Every year, Channelside hosts a full day of patriotic activities including live music, kids activities, delicious dining, nightlife, and an amazing fireworks display.

You can expect all this and more when Wednesday, July 4th rolls around.  Plan on day festivities at the Plaza kicking off at 1 p.m. with a dazzling fireworks display shooting right off the water at 9 p.m.  Go early, though.  Viewing of the Fireworks from the Wharf Area (the best spot) will be limited the first 3,000 people.  Wristbands will be given out for wharf access at the Garrison Street Gate beginning at 7:00 pm.

We'll keep you updated as more news arises regarding this fun, free, and family-friendly 4th of July celebration at Channelside Bay Plaza.
