If you were around then, it's hard not to remember exactly where you were when the news broke that one, then, both of the Twin Towers collapsed on September 11, 20o1.

Even if you knew no one even remotely close to New York City on that day, the gravity of the situation was like nothing you'd seen and, hopefully, will ever see again on a national scale.

It's hard to believe it's been almost ten years since that tragic day.  Come September 11 this year, people across the country will band together once again to commemorate the tragedy and eventual triumph after 9/11.  If you're looking for a place outside your own home to commemorate 9/11 in Tampa Bay, the American Victory Ship Mariner's Museum is holding a 9/11 Ten-Year Observance Ceremony beginning at 8 a.m.

Featuring Reginald Roundtree of WTSP Channel 10 News, this observance ceremony is a free event featuring Naval Sea Cadets and the MacDill Air Force Base Rifle Team to commemorate the tragedy.  The Naval Sea Cadets will present the colors and a member of the Navy League will perform the National Anthem to begin the ceremonies.

Afterward, guest speakers including Tampa firefighters, members of the Tampa Police Department and others will speak.  The American Victory Ship will sound its horn at the following times throughout the 9/11 Ten-Year Observance.

8:46:26am – First Tower attack
9:02:59am – Second Tower attack
9:37:46am – Pentagon attack
9:59:04am – South Tower collapse
10:03:11am – Plane crash in PA
10:28:25am – North Tower collapse

If you'd like to commemorate the tragedy of 9/11 with the comfort and camaraderie of your Tampa Bay neighbors, the 9/11 Ten-Year Observance on the American Victory Ship is a great way to do it.
