Experience Kentucky Derby Day at The Downs and More

Training the past 8 weeks in Boynton Beach at Palm Beach Downs, record setting Destin has a good shot at winning Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious event this year. Many believe there is a strong chance Destin could take it all becoming a Triple Crown winner. No one knows what the future holds, but what we do know is watching the Kentucky Derby at Tampa Bay Downs is an amazing experience, one you do not want to miss and perhaps this year, a memory you will cherish forever!

The Downs Derby Day event is a two-day affair for fans of the sport. Catch full-card simulcasts from Churchill Downs on May 6th  and 7th  including the Grade I Longines Kentucky Oaks for 3-year-old fillies. Gates open both days at 10 a.m., with the first race from Churchill at 10:30 a.m. Post time for the Longines Kentucky Oaks on May 6 is 5:49 p.m. and post time for the Kentucky Derby on May 7 is 6:34 p.m.

Historically two horses racing the Tampa Bay Derby went on to win the Kentucky Derby.  In 2007, Street Sense nosed out Any Given Sunday in Tampa for the win, then three years later Super Saver, a third place finisher in the Tampa Derby, went on to win in Kentucky.

Head to The Downs to experience the spectacle, the color, the camaraderie and intensity that is race day.  Wear your finest hat and sip mint juleps from an official Kentucky Derby keepsake glass as you cheer on Destin, Outwork and Brody’s Cause. You could be seeing history in the making!
