Well, this is interesting.  A massive tent village and events plaza in Downtown Tampa will be constructed sometime within the next two weeks to host 2012 Republican National Convention parties and concerts from a handful of rock n' roll greats.

Deemed the Liberty Events Plaza, this air-conditioned tent village will take up the entire city block bordered by Whiting Street, Jefferson Street, the Selmon Expressway and Morgan Street in Downtown Tampa.  Throughout the convention, a handful of organizations will utilize the village for private parties and concerts from the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kid Rock, Trace Adkins, and Journey.

The keyword here is "private", though.  Fences and security gates will line the perimeter of this temporary venue and you can bet that only those invited will get to go through.  Once they're in, these VIP guests will enter a tented world of corporate sponsors and major brands primed and ready to pamper distinguished guests.

A handful of events are already planned to take place at the village including a Wisconsin Beer and Bratwurst Bash made all the more appropriate by Mitt Romney's newly-acquired V.P. candidate, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan.  In fact, organizers of the event doubled the size of their beer and bratwurst orders after Ryan's nomination according to the Tampa Tribune.

The centerpiece of the village will likely be the two-story, 2,500 person capacity tent where, we'll venture to guess, these concerts will take place.

No word yet on when, or if, public tickets will be available.  We'll keep you posted as more news arises regarding the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa.
