Prost y'all!   We're right in the midst of the time for Oktoberfest celebrations in Tampa and across the world.  One of the most notable in the area is likely to be Oktoberfest Tampa 2011 going down at The Heights Waterfront (1910 North Ola Ave.) on the Hillsborough River.

This is a true, German-style Oktoberfest celebration in every sense of the word.  Head out to The Heights and enjoy three days of drinking, dancing, games, entertainment and more.   Last year's Oktoberfest was so special that the famous German brewery, Warsteiner & Konig Ludwig have decided to send a very limited portion of their U.S. shipment of Bavarian Royal Wedding straight to Oktoberfest Tampa this year.

There will be a handful of classic, German drinking games going down at the event including a stein holding contest, beer jug relay, and burping contest or, "schultz" as they call it in Germany.

A ton of traditional, German fare will also be on hand for purchase at Oktoberfest Tampa 2011.  Chow down on bratwurst, weiner schnitzel, potato pancakes, pretzels, and more between big, $8 liters of delicious Warsteiner.

It all kicks off on Friday, October 14 at 3:00 p.m. with a keg-tapping ceremony rife with live music and the traditional blowing of the large, German horn, the alphorn to signify the start of Oktoberfest Tampa 2011.

General admission tickets are $8 per day or $15 for the entire weekend.  VIP weekend passes are $40 and will get you a commemorative 28-ounce full of Warsteiner, access to VIP seating, bathrooms, and entry.  To purchase or explore ticketing options, visit the Oktoberfest Tampa 2011 website here.  Also, 813area is also running contests for pairs of tickets at contests on 813area.com and on their Facebook page at facebook.com/813area.

If you want to do Oktoberfest right, check out Oktoberfest Tampa 2011 and celebrate this traditional, German celebration the right way.
