After facing the prospect of potential closure announced earlier this summer, the popular Tampa Downtown Market will return with a new weekly date and format this fall.

After extensive market research, Downtown Market officials found that both consumers and vendors preferred a Sunday where people have more time to shop for typical market fare including local produce, hand-made goods, and more.

The Tampa Downtown Market will return on Sunday, October 14 and take place at on the 600 and 700 North Blocks of Franklin Street in Downtown Tampa every Sunday until May 2013.  Guests will be able to enjoy the aforementioned market fare as well as children's activities and live music according to a statement from Market officials.

Market research conducted by Downtown Market officials also found that consumers still wanted a Friday lunchtime event (the original day of the Market) focused on great food and entertainment, so Fridays will now play host to "Lunch on the Lawn" which will kick off on Friday, October 5 at Lykes Gaslight Square Park and run through May 2013 as well.  In addition to typical food truck fare, a variety of local restaurants will offer express lunches at "Lunch on the Lawn" as well.

"Do the Local Motion", another October through May event, will return to Downtown Tampa this fall as well.  This "fair-weather" event series is sponsored by the Tampa Downtown Partnership and will include Rock the Park and Yoga in the Park at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.
