The SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund’s Run for Wildlife 5K gives participants the opportunity to support animal conservation efforts worldwide. All all can take part in the Conservation Fund’s mission and support wildlife conservation, education and research through Busch Gardens.

CROSS OUT CANCER’S “FIRST ANNUAL 5K RACE Nov 21 @ 8:00 am


Picnic Island Park 7404 Picnic Island Boulevard Port Tampa (South Tampa)

Designed with the idea of cross country teams putting aside rivalries to unite for a greater cause, student representatives from twelve local High Schools (Academy of the Holy Names, Alonso, Berkeley, Calvary, Clearwater Central Catholic, Chamberlain, H.B. Plant, Jesuit, Robinson, Sickles, Tampa Prep, Wiregrass Ranch), will participate alongside participants from Tampa Bay and other cross country teams to run in support of pediatric cancer research. Cost is $25 per person and includes an event t-shirt and SWAG bag!

Cross Out Cancer, Inc., is a Tampa based nonprofit organization devoted to raising money in support of pediatric oncology patients and their families through All Children’s Hospital. Cross Out Cancer was established intentionally to unite high school cross country teams for a good cause. COC’s goal is to raise awareness and give high school students the opportunity to make a difference in their community. By participating and choosing to fundraise you are helping raise awareness and fund research dedicated to increasing lung cancer survival by the year 2022. Form a Free to Breathe team by asking friends, family members, neighbors and coworkers to join you on event day.

7:00 a.m. - Registration & check-in
8:30 a.m. - Opening rally
9:00 a.m. - 5K run/walk
9:10 a.m. - 1-mile walk
10:30 a.m. - Closing rally

REGISTRATION: $30 for adults and $20 age 12 and under Register on event day, or download donation and pledge forms.

TAMPA STAKE YOUTH THANKSGIVING 2015 SERVICE PROJECT Nov 25 @ 1:30 pm

  • Please join Metropolitan Ministries for a morning of community service. Come on your own or with your group!  You will be working with Metropolitan Ministires preparing Thanksgiving meals for the Tampa Bay community. 
  •  Bring your Volunteer Registration Form: All volunteers are required to bring a Volunteer Registration Form. If you are under 18, it should be signed by your parent/guardian.
  • Please consider bringing a food donation.
  • Certification of Hours: If you or your child needs verification of Community Service hours for school or work, let our Team know before you leave.
  • Final Group Counts: We know your numbers might fluctuate a little bit. If you go over 3 people or under 3 people from what we originally scheduled, contact us at 813-209-1045.
  • Arrival: Plan to arrive 10 minutes early.
  • Group Timesheet: You will need to complete a separate timesheet for your organization. Please know the address of your organization.
  • Parking: You can park in the main lot on 120 E Ross Ave at the Holiday Tent.
  • Orientation: All volunteers will attend a brief Orientation before volunteering.
  • Bring as little as possible with you and nothing valuable as there is no secure storage area for your valuables.
  • Volunteers may not use electronics while volunteering. Cell phones should be kept on silent and used solely to promote Metropolitan Ministries on social media.

 

THE TAMPA YMCA'S GOODY GOODY TURKEY TROT 5K Nov 26 @ 6 am

Thanksgiving Day the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA invites you to participate in a fun 5K or one mile walk/run in downtown Tampa. Everyone is welcome to participate in the Goody Goody™ Turkey Gobble 5K sponsored by Goody Goody™ restaurant, opening in Hyde Park Village 2016. The route takes you across the Platt Street Bridge and down beautiful Bayshore Boulevard. Awards will be given to 1st place male and female adult and 1st place male and female child ages 12 and under. The following 50 male and 50 female finishers, regardless of age receive a commemorative gift. Strollers are welcome, kids will enjoy this event!

100% of proceeds raised from the Goody Goody™ Turkey Gobble 5K support the LIVESTRONG® Program at the YMCA. This program supports cancer survivors and their families by offering a free 12-week program where they can participate in physical and social activities focused on learning how to get whole again following treatment. Since the journey through cancer treatment is a brave one, during the race registration process participants will have the opportunity to purchase their own personalized superhero cape to honor a superhero they choose to run for Thanksgiving Day.

HOOPS FOR THE HOLIDAYS! HOOLA FOR HAPPINESS FUNDRAISER Nov 28 @ 9 am

What better time than now! Here is your chance to send hoola hoops to TONS of kids all over the world! Join us for our very first Hoola for Happiness Hoops for the Holidays event and fundraiser from 9 am – 12 pm at the Underground Network in Ybor.

This unique program spreads hoop joy to kids in Tampa, India, European refugee camps and more. Event admission is a $20 donation and includes your very own Five Color hoola hoop you make during the event. All funds raised during this event will go towards Hoola for Happiness!  Donations will be collected at the door, please RSVP through this link for head-count purposes only.

Hoop makers must be 16 years old or older, due to the use of power tools. Children are welcome to join us for other creative tasks, *with parental supervision.* Please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Light refreshments will be served, and other Hoola for Happiness products will be available for purchase.
