Do you think Ybor City has been on such a decline in tourism or local traffic that it will continue to lose people's interests. Or is Ybor City on a rise once again and will soon be a more respectable place on the map of hot spots to visit? What do you think about Ybor City, about the changes it has been through & what should be done?

I think that Ybor is doing what everything else in the USA is doing right now. The market is down everywhere. Housing cost and insurence is up and no one has the expendable cash to spend anymore. So inturn, the normal people that populated Ybor are not going there as much. That is bring in some of the lower class people that just go there to "hang out". Some of those people are a little more violent then others, again making Ybor less attractive for most. I see this daily being a bouncer down there. It will all change as soon as more people start making better money. It has happened in the past, and it will happen again in the future.

If you have not yeard that Centro Ybor was bought out by a marketing company from Chicago? Now if someone like them will put advertising money & time into it...do you think it wil become what it was? All I know was when I came to Tampa for the first time people raved about Ybor City as being the spot for nightlife every night of the week. Now it is not so much and even on the weekends people talk more about going to Channelside or Hyde Park. I think in time it will change but maybe not as the nightlife spot of Tampa.

Yeah its changing for the worst right now. No body wants to go to Ybor cause of the violence in the streets. Now that they have opened up the streets for parking, and uped the amount of cops at closing time, hopefully that helps the violence. Other then that it's going to come back around like all things in live. As soon as people start getting tired of Channelside and Hyde park, Ybor will be back on the rise.
