Presented by J.J. Taylor Distributing Florida, Inc., the 18th annual WaZoo Beer Fest was held this past weekend at Lowry Park Zoo, and it was an incredible success.  Throughout the years, WaZoo has gained national attention and has been named one of the top 10 beer festivals in the country.

This year, Tampa’s own Cigar City Brewing crafted a custom small batch brew for the event named "Strawberries Out The WaZoo."

According to The Lowry Park Zoo, WaZoo exceeded their goal and budget projections by raising preliminary NET revenue in excess of $150,000. The zoo is a nonprofit organization and relies on their members, donors and special events for funding.

The event attracted more than 4,000 guests and 600 volunteers. Hundreds of participating vendors introduced more than 280 types of beer from 80 breweries worldwide and served appetizing samples from 20 local eateries. Tons of bands kept the crowd entertained while performing the World of Beer main stage and others Zoo-wide.

We would like to give a big congratulations to those who were presented with awards from the panel of judges.

Best of Show – DogTown Pale Ale from Lagunitas Brewing Company

1st Runner Up – White Rascal (Wheat) from Avery Brewing Company

2nd Runner Up – Ellies Brown Ale from Avery Brewing Company

WaZoo may be over, but that doesn't mean the fun is! The next big tasting event, Zoofari, will be held Saturday, November 2. Zoofari is an all-inclusive food festival that has been a popular event for 27 years. The festival will allow guests to sample the Bay area's best restaurants, thirst on open bars,  browse the "Art Safari" art auction, and dance to live music on multiple stages featuring Robert Randolph & The Family Band - Lickety Split Tour. The Rhino Club includes early entry and exclusive use of the enticing Safari Lodge and outdoor plaza. Animals will not be on exhibit during the event.
