With so many bars around the bay area in nightlife-centric areas like Ybor City, Channelside, and Downtown Tampa, a night on the town can start feeling a bit monotonous after a while.  The same clubs, the same music, maybe a few differing touches, but a same overall concept, and that's fine.  They wouldn't exist if we didn't like them.

If you're looking for a change of routine though, something a little different that a prototypical Tampa bar experience, then head to The Retreat in Downtown Tampa.

Opened in 1938, and switching names multiple times throughout its time here (most recently, it was known as The Mousetrap), The Retreat is a simple, no-frills bar seeped in history and classic fun for all.

They once held the record for the most beers ever sold in the Guinness Book of World Records and still keep the beer tradition alive today with a wide assortment of domestic and imported beers on tap as well as top shelf and well liquor and house wine.

When was the last time you saw a game room?  Like, a real game room with pool, old school arcade games, darts, and more.  How about in a bar?  That's what the Retreat's working with, making your night out that much more fun as you bring out the inner child and have some fun.

They've got great drink specials throughout all nights of the week including all-you-can drink on Thursdays from 9 p.m. till close for $10 and their happy hour made our list as one of the best happy hours in Tampa.  Enjoy 2-4-1 wells, domestic draft beers, and house wines from 3 to 9 p.m. every day.

If this sounds awesome, head out to The Retreat tonight and see what its all about!  They'd probably love to have you.
