If you've got a soul food fixation, a hankering for some of that classic, home cooked fare wholly indigenous to the South, you probably owe it to yourself to check out Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe in North Tampa.

Ella's, in its relatively short existence, has managed to bring stick to your ribs, Americana fare from grandma's stove to the heart of Tampa.  This casual, Nebraska Avenue hangout boasts a wide assortment of dinner entrees (breakfast and lunch as well on Sundays) for a variety of palates.

Appetizers include Fat Japs - cheddar, cream cheese, and pulled pork-stuffed jalepeno peppers deep fried with a horseradish dipping sauce - gingered edamame with soy sauce, wings, seared tuna and more.

Main courses at Ella's include inventive entrees like Heritage Pork Chops, "Henry the Loaf" meatloaf with angus beef and pork wrapped in bacon served with a garlic potato cake and veggies make you drool just reading about them and vegetarian-friendly meals like The Roots - oven roasted sweet potato, shallot, and onion salad with chopped pecans, mild chilies, and fresh herbs drizzled in balsamic dressing and feta - say a lot about Ella's drive to cater to a diverse audience.

The "art" in Ella's Folk Art Cafe isn't there for nothing.  They host a variety of live music acts throughout the month and a beloved Sunday brunch deemed Soul Food Sunday.  A HUGE, eclectic variety of art lines the space and walls of Ella's Folk Art Americana Cafe making it just as much of a visual feast as it is a culinary one.

If you're in the mood for something a little strayed from the norm, an eatery widely praised with a menu that won't kill the budget, and more, head to Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe in North Tampa.
