The Tampa Convention Center in Downtown Tampa is gearing up to premier a brand new waterfront restaurant, Bay Bistro Riverwalk, set to open in mid-January, 2013.

The restaurant, which will overlook the Hillsborough River, will house over 150 seats split between 56 outdoor seats on the water and 100 seats inside the building.  It's scheduled to open to the public on Wednesday, January 16 with operating hours from the 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. lunchtime hours from Monday through Friday.

Bay Bistro Riverwalk will offer an assortment of fresh, delicious lunchtime fare including items like grilled mahi mahi, Southern friend green tomatoes, chicken mole quesadillas, and more.  Aramark, the Convention Center's current food and beverage provider will supply the food for the new restaurant.

Once it opens, Bay Bistro Riverwalk will be one of the newest additions to the Downtown Tampa Riverwalk, a 2.6-mile pathway which will extend from the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts all the way past the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Channelside once construction is finished.

The Downtown Tampa Riverwalk project was recently awarded an $11 million federal grant from the Florida Department of Transportation's Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program.  As of June 2012, the expected completion date for the Downtown Tampa Riverwalk is sometime during February of 2013.
