Late night dining is set to get a little better in Downtown Tampa this week when the brand new Pita Pit location opens its doors near the intersection of Twiggs and Franklin Street.

Set to stay open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and midnight on Sundays and Mondays, the new Pita Pit is gunning for the top spot when it comes to late night dining in Downtown Tampa, not that they have much competition.  Taco Bus stays open until 3 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but other than that, these two restaurants stand alone as the early morning hours approach.

And, for good reason.  Nightlife in Downtown Tampa is notoriously sparse, making a late-night restaurant set up like this a risky endeavor.  Pita Pit will offer late night delivery to areas surrounding Downtown Tampa like Ybor City to bolster business during these evening hours.  Restaurant officials plan to evaluate the benefits of these hours in three or four months to determine if they should continue.

Pita Pit officials hope the new Downtown Tampa location will eventually become similar to their SoHo location, another late night spot which is the fourth highest revenue-earning Pita Pit (out of 350) in North America.

We'll keep you posted as more news arises.
