High end fashion retailer Saks Fifth Avenue has been one of Westshore Plaza's largest tenants since it opened its doors at the mall back in 1998, but after 15 years, the store will be closing for good on May 4, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Saks Fifth Avenue is set to be replaced by Dick's Sporting Goods, an ever-growing presence at malls throughout the Tampa Bay area, set to open at Westshore Plaza sometime in 2014.

Company officials from Saks have made no statements regarding a move to a different area outside of Tampa's Westshore District, the Tribune reports, but they have been named as a possible tenant for a new, potential outlet mall location in Pasco County.

Saks Fifth Avenue's lease at Westshore Plaza was set to run until 2018, but many began to speculate how long this upscale clothing store would last in this more mid-level mall, especially after the more upscale International Plaza opened just a short distance away back in 2001.

Set to open in 2014, the Dick's Sporting Goods at Westshore Plaza will be the retailers fifth location in the Tampa Bay area, joining previously opened stores in Brandon, Clearwater, Wesley Chapel, and Citrus Park.  Dick's officials wouldn't release specific plans for the new store according to the Tribune, but we'll keep you updated as more news arises.
