Well, after months of speculation, it's finally confirmed.  National grocery store chain Trader Joe's has filed paperwork signifying a future move into their first Tampa Bay area location at 3808 W. Swann Ave. in South Tampa according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Although the beloved California-based grocery store brand hasn't confirmed the opening of their first Tampa store themselves, a variance request filed with the city of Tampa by Centennial American Properties confirms the construction of a Trader Joe's in South Tampa, the Times reports.

The smoking gun: this is the first time city documents have referred to Trader Joe's by its full name at the 3808 W. Swann Ave. address, currently home to the women-only Shapes Gym.

Centennial American Properties filed the paperwork requesting to double the amount of signage the city's approved for the 1-acre property.  Plans to demolish the existing Shapes Gym structure and construct of a $1 million, 12,300-square-foot building were also revealed earlier this week by the Tampa Bay Times.

The signage size request is scheduled to appear in front of the City of Tampa Variance Review Board on Tuesday, August 13.

Construction on the Trader Joe structure would start around July 25 according to the Times.

No word yet on an opening date for the new Trader Joe's in South Tampa.  We'll keep you updated as more news arises.
