Event Details

The event is hosted by the FlavaFitness Studio Staff, and members located in Tampa, FL. This is a charity event, and all the proceeds will go to children who suffer from PTSD, and other underlying issues from being in a Domestic Violence situation. This event is expected to bring approximately 300 fitness guru’s, who are joined together by local fitness instructors to raise awareness. The statistics in the bay area for families that endure domestic violence are horrifying and the cycle needs to be stopped. The event started in 2012 as the first ever 24hr Zumbathon. Domestic violence doesn’t stop, so neither did we. Each hour had a different theme, and people from the area danced until they could not dance anymore. During the year the studio grew, and so did this event. In 2013 we did an all weekend “FlavaThon” to showcase all different fitness formats offered at the studio, and invited other instructors in the area to present. We themed hours, had raffles, brought in survivors and speakers from the area. All proceeds for these two events went to an organization called The Spring, a local nonprofit that assists woman and families in the bay area who have fallen victim to domestic abuse, and need a place to go. This year we want to go bigger. This year the FlavaFitness family is planning on turning this event into a nonprofit organization. The reason is simple. Studio owner and CEO Jeni J, has been a victim of domestic abuse, and her children were there the entire time. Jeni’s story is truly touching, and with the love and support from her studio members and community has been able to open up about what she and her family have gone through. Fortunately Jeni has been able to turn a horrible situation in a positive, and with her drive and determination has been able to open her own dance fitness studio and hold events such as these to educate and bring awareness to others on domestic violence. Jeni has been out of her situation for almost ten years now, but as her two daughters who are now 13, and 9 are growing, and
