Event Details

Tampa Ballet Theatre is going mad about tea! On March 29th at 4:00pm, Tampa can celebrate their un-birthday with Alice, The Queen of Hearts, and the maddest one of all, The Hatter himself. The Mad Tea Party will consist of a silent auction, poetry reading, specialty treats and teas, playing cards, and a performance of excerpts from Tampa Ballet Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland. The event’s purpose is to help Tampa Ballet Theatre raise funds for their upcoming performance, Alice in Wonderland. The Mad Tea Party will be held at the Tampa Ballet Theatre studio at 12720 DuPont Circle, Tampa 33626. Tickets are $18 per person. There are a limited number of seats available. Tickets can be purchased by calling (813)814-0587 or online at www.tampaballettheatre.org/events.
The Mad Tea Party will be fun for all ages and will be featuring a fun menu of snacks, including eat me cookies, drink me drinks, chocolate fondue, and other delectable treats inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. The excerpts being performed include Alice’s Variation, White Rabbit, Queen and King of Hearts Pas De Deux, Pas De Trois (Gryphon, Alice, and Mock Turtle), Bill the Lizard, The Caucus Race, and the Mad Tea Party. The dancers will accompanied by the music created for the original Alice in Wonderland ballet, composed by Carl Davis. The dancers performing are company members of the professional ballet company Tampa Ballet Theatre, pre-professional apprentices/trainees of TBT II, and students of the Tampa Bay Ballet school. This event has very limited seating available. The funds being raised at The Mad Tea Party will be used to help fund the show making process including: costumes, theatre rental, props, dancer expenses, backdrops, scenery, lighting, and more.
“I chose to stage Alice in Wonderland to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Lewis Carroll’s book,” states Artistic Director of Tampa Ballet Theatre, “I want to tell the story it how it was meant to be told, with every mad little detail.”
