There are also several annual events held at the zoo such as Summer Safari Night, Red, White, & Zoo, Wazoo, ZooBoo, and more which may offer different hours. The zoo also has educational camps, Zoo School, and more for children to learn and enjoy.

Not a zoo expert by any means, but Lowry Park is pretty cool. Love the nighttime events like WaZoo and their holiday lights. Never too crowded, at least when I've been, and enough rotating exhibits to come back for repeat visits.
Pros:
Big, well-maintained, ample parking, great fundraiser events.
Cons:
Tickets can get a little pricey if you've got a big family, but they do a solid job of trying to make them worth it.

The zoo itself is a great family place and offers a lot of learning and fun for kids. On the other hand, Wazoo is their annual Beer Festival which offers a chance for adults to enjoy the zoo in a different light. I have attended several Wazoo's and I might say the beer selection is great (a lot of micro brews) and the food is good as well. Just make sure to have a DD or safe ride home.
