Ahh, the theater.  Once purely a term for a venue where'd you'd go watch actors on a stage, it's now a title for a wide and eclectic variety of places where you can see live music, watch a movie, and still, enjoy actors working through a great play.  Tampa definitely has no shortage of theaters.  From the historic to modern, there are theaters throughout Tampa for all tastes.

The Tampa Theatre is likely the most recognized and historic in the entire Tampa Bay Area.  Opened in 1926 and still standing strong today, the Tampa Theatre is a mecca for independent film and art in the bay area.  Many independent films you'd never find in a typical chain movie theatre are shown here making it ideal for feature film and documentary buffs around Tampa.

CineBistro is another theater perfect for movie watching in Tampa.  Located in Hyde Park, Cinebistro is unique as you can enjoy a full menu of food and drink offerings while you watch your film.  Although not as independent film-minded as the Tampa Theatre, Cinebistro is a unique option for watching the latest feature films out in theaters.

If you're into plays and the theatres that host them, Tampa's got you covered too.  The Straz Center for Performing Arts is a great place to catch a number of nationally-recognized plays as well as some one-of-kind ones created by, and starring, some of Tampa's best creative talent.  This award-winning theatre is a cultural epicenter of Tampa Bay and one of the reasons the arts scene in Tampa is so prolific.

These are just a few of the many different theaters in Tampa.  Do some research, explore, and spend a day or night in one of these great Tampa theaters soon!
