The Morrison at SoHo is the newest focal point for the fastest-growing neighborhood in Tampa Bay. "SoHo," as the strip of South Howard Avenue from W. Kennedy Blvd south to scenic Bayshore Blvd. is known to residents, has continued to expand in popularity in recent years, and The Morrison at SoHo is proof that this neighborhood's star is still rising. Nearly ten months before construction is scheduled to be completed and the doors to open, The Morrison at SoHo has already secured 100% occupancy of the retail space that covers the first floor of the mixed-use development.
High-Demand Retail Space Allows The Morrison at Soho to Carefully Choose Their Retailers
The building, which is located at 936 S. Howard Ave. replaces a blighted and condemned structure on one of Tampa's most vibrant and active roads. Backers include Franklin Street and Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinick, substantial players in the area's real estate market. The more than 13,000sf of retail space at The Morrison will house a Mediterranean Restaurant, called Zoe's Kitchen, alongside a tapas bars that will serve Spanish-inspired cuisine. The restaurant, Bulla Gastrobar, is bringing another cool feature to the space: it will be home to a rooftop bar that covers 2,000sf of The Morrison. The building will also house a second location for Club Pilates on the ground floor.
A new expansion of the Blind Tiger Cafe will build on its concepts from the cafe's Seminole Heights digs and their original Ybor City location, The Blind Tiger Cafe, Tea & Textiles. The Soho store will offer customers dinner and drinks, as well as signature coffee and tea beverages.
The Morrison at SoHo will provide these entertainment options upon opening, but the development is also accessible to some of the most popular dining, drinking, and retail establishments in South Tampa, placing its new tenants in good company. Popular nearby businesses within a short walk from The Morrison at SoHo include Ava Inspirato Italiano, 717 South, BurgerFi South Tampa, Tampa Bay Outfitters, and many others. Further up the road, there are a number of popular bars and restaurants frequented by a young, active crowd, like the popular Dubliner Irish Pub, World of Beer SoHo, MacDinton's, Cask Social Kitchen, Yard of Ale SoHo, SoHo Saloon, and many more.
Take a walk south toward Bayshore instead, and you'll come across Happy Hour Club - Ciro's Speakeasy, Sally O'Neal's Pizza Hotline, Bellas Italian Grille, Fresh Kitchen Tampa, Ciccio's Water, Elevage @ The Epicurean Hotel, and other trendy or popular establishments. You can even take a trip to world-famous Bern's Steak House or top off a meal with the desserts at Harry Waugh Dessert Room at Bern's.
A walk or short bike ride to nearby Hyde Park Village, which has seen substantial improvements and an uptick in foot traffic since a Boston-based management team took over the retail space, is mere minutes from The Morrison.
With just under 50 units available to would-be SoHo renters, The Morrison is likely to see residential dwelling at full occupancy soon too. There is also nearly 7,000sf of office space on the property, which can be leased through real estate firm Franklin Street. The Morrison is slated to open in late fall of 2017.
