Being a parent during the holiday season can be both stressful and wonderfully enjoyable. While most kids are eagerly anticipating Christmas or Hanukah, we parents are having to deal with all the details about the holidays, plus the normal aspects of life and being a parent. With Christmas vacation and the kids being off of school, a lot of working parents have to figure out how to keep the kids entertained. With that in mind I’ve compiled a list of things parents can do with the kids having the holidays in mind.

First and possibly the easiest is the movies. During the holiday season, Hollywood tends to debut a few  family friendly movies around this time of the year. Keep a lookout for these movies debuting this December…

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked - No explanation needed I don’t think? The first two Alvin & the Chipmunks were great successes and I have not met one kid who didn’t like either of them. Expect a similar response with this one.

The Adventures of TINTIN - Popular European comic series is adapted to film. Possibly more enjoyable to pre-teens as it stars adventure seeking teen Tintin.

There are a few kid friendly movies currently at the theatres which you don’t want to miss, such as Puss in Boots, HUGO and the Muppets. They are all getting good reviews, so check em out.

Besides movies, Busch Gardens transforms into a winter wonderland in December where you can enjoy special holiday shows, events, and more.

At the Lowry Park Zoo through the month of December, there is Wild Wonderland a special holiday theme throughout the zoo featuring special rides, shows and other entertainment.

At the ever popular Glazer Children’s Museum in Downtown Tampa they have a special series of events titled Winter Break Camp Connect which explores snowy winter themed situations. Things like arctic adventures, freezing and melting stuff in fun science experiments even how to survive in icy cold destinations. Check the website for specifics on all these events.

If your budget is kinda tight and going out and doing a lot of stuff is just not possible why not stay at home and make crafts with the kids. Kids love to make stuff, whether its cards, ornaments for the tree or what have you. You can get plenty of craft ideas if you search the web or visit your local craft store. Get messy with the kids and have some stay at home fun.
