In June, we gave you a heads up about Antiwarpt, the Warped Tour alternative, on our sister site, 727area.com (could we have fit any more links just now?). The event, which takes place on Saturday, July 28 in Downtown St. Pete, will feature artists from all over Florida playing at several venues, a la the multi-stage Warped Tour set-up.

Maybe you've heard of a few of these 99 bands, as some already have a strong local following, but for those in the dark, we decided to give you a preview of a handful of the Tampa Bay area bands you can see there.

November Foxtrot Whiskey

November Foxtrot Whiskey (NFW) is a Tampa band made up of members Aaron Lepley (guitar and vocals), Damon Dougherty (drums and vocals), Steve Glichowski (bass and vocals), JD Mattioli (keyboard and vocals), and Chris Trojnar (percussion and vocals).

Their music, perhaps more silly than seriously described by Lepley, sounds like "falling down the stairs loudly". What listeners can really expect is a rock and roll band with a strong use of composition, orchestration, and instrumentation.

Though this is the bands first time playing Antiwarpt, they are no stranger to the local venues. They are known to frequent New World Brewery, Crowbar, The Independent, and Ella's Americana Folk Cafe.

In addition to the excitement of playing Antiwarpt for the first time, NFW is very excited to reach out to their listeners. "We really look forward to seeing old friends and fans, and reaching out to people who may not have previously been privy to our music," says Lepley.

When asked if there was anything NFW wanted Antiwarpt attendees to know about the band, Lepley left us with this: "We're hoping to have our latest work-in-progress ready for the 28th [for the Antiwarpt festival]. We went into our studio to record some new material, but were unable to decide what songs should have precedence over the others.  Instead of compromising, we recorded (almost) everything. As a result, we have thirty-seven songs on deck."

"Our plans are to release three albums, with the first arriving this summer. We’ve taken a lot of time and placed a lot of thought into these songs not only from a compositional standpoint, but also in the orchestration and mixing. One of our major strengths is 3/5 of the band have music degrees, two of which are in composition."

"We've made each piece a little movie for your ears. We recorded, engineered and mixed, the albums and have dedicated countless hours doing so. We’ve had contributions from friends, The USF School Of Music, and a bevy of borrowed vintage analogue synths, all adding a unique richness to the texture. We look forward to bringing the result of our efforts to St. Petersburg."

To keep in touch with NFW's goings-on, check out the November Foxtrot Whiskey Facebook page, where you'll be able to hear their songs via Soundcloud beginning the week of July 9.

Now that you and November Foxtrot Whiskey are chums, keep up to date with them on Facebook, give their songs a listen, and be sure to check them out at Antiwarpt on July 28 in Downtown St. Pete.
