You might have to wait until next year, but the biggest musical of all-time is coming to Downtown Tampa for a month in 2019.

The wildly-successful Hamilton comes to the Straz Center for the Performing Arts on February 12th, 2019. The residency will be until March 10th, and is likely to be the toughest ticket in Tampa Bay for a long time outside of the Stanley Cup Finals (if they come here).

Lin-Manuel Miranda's instant classic revolutionized much about storytelling on-stage, and won 11 Tony awards in 2016 including for Best Musical. More than two years later, the waitlists are still massive and tickets are as cherished as the opening number. The story of founding father Alexander Hamilton is told through songs, including hip-hop and rap, which bring the tale to life in a way that was inconceivable on the Great White Way before. The massive song-and-dance numbers are now beloved parts of the Broadway Songbook, and changed the trajectory of American theatre forever.

Ticket prices haven't been released yet, but the only way to guarantee a seat is to purchase season tickets for the Straz Center's Broadway Series, which will feature eight total touring companies next year. Revivals of Hello, Dolly and Les Miserables come to town, as well as the second-biggest musical of last season on the Great White Way and the 2017 Best Musical Tony winner, Dear Evan Hansen.

With one of the strongest Broadway Series schedules in Straz history, headlined by the biggest musical in history, Tampa's Center for the Performing Arts will be a destination for much of next year.
