It's not every day you get to run amidst a 56-acre natural environment that plays home to over 1,500 animals, and, if you're facing the prospect, we'll venture to guess it probably won't be too pleasurable.  But, Lowry Park Zoo has changed all that with their annual 5k race and fun run, Zoo Run Run.

Zoo Run Run goes down on Saturday, September 15 this year and is gearing up to be one of the best 5k races and fun runs for the entire family during this upcoming fall season.  Adults and kids of all ages are encouraged to come out to Lowry Park Zoo for a one of a kind run throughout the zoo and along the scenic Hillsborough River.

Those interested can go for the 5k, or 3.1 mile run throughout the zoo and bring the little ones along for a smaller, entertaining fun run right alongside the huge variety of wildlife within the zoo (while they're all safely secured within their respective habitats, of course).

Registration for the 2012 Zoo Run Run is $35 for anyone who wants to run in the 5k race and $10 for kids (11 and under) who want to race in the fun run.  The price of registration for Zoo Run Run includes admission to the Zoo for the day for the entrant.  Check in at the race begins at 6:30 a.m., the 5k run starts at 7:30 a.m., the 5k walk starts at 8 a.m., and the fun run kicks off at 9:15 a.m.

Sound fun?  Head to the 2012 Zoo Run Run registration page to sign up and get more information, then make your way out to Lowry Park Zoo on Saturday, September 15 for one of the most unique road races in the Tampa Bay area.
