The 2013 Florida Strawberry Festival will kick off today, February 28 with a larger than ever assortment of big name concerts, high flying rides, midway games, and, of course, a whole lotta strawberries served a ton of different ways.

Open from 1o a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, the Strawberry Festival will run until Sunday, March 10 with an abundance of fun things to do for the entire family.

The Strawberry Festival's entertainment lineup is second to none this year with a huge assortment of big name acts playing all throughout the week.  Concert highlights include Chubby Checker (3:30 p.m. Feb. 28), Foreigner (7:30 p.m. Feb. 28), Gloriana (3:30 p.m. March 2), Alan Jackson (7:30 p.m. March 3), Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis (3:30 p.m. March 4), Dwight Yoakam (7:30 p.m. March 4), Martina McBride (7:30 p.m. March 5), Trace Adkins (7:30 p.m. March 6), Mel Tillis (3:30 p.m. March 7), Bret Michaels (7:30 p.m. March 9), and Blake Shelton (7:30 p.m. March 10).  Hunter Hayes will also perform on the 10th, but his show is sold out.

Admission to these concerts range in price from $15 to $55 and are not included in the price of admission to the Strawberry Festival.

There will also be special discount days at the Strawberry Festival where kids and adults alike can take advantage of great midway rides, games, food, and more on the cheap.

Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade in Hillsborough County can enjoy free admission to the Strawberry Festival on Saturday, March 2.

Grand Parade day will take place on Monday, March 4 when the Grand Parade passes by the Festival on Reynolds Street beginning at 1 p.m.  It’s also Ride-A-Thon Day where guests can get unlimited access to most midway rides for $19.  For a full list of discount days, visit the Strawberry Festival Discount Days page.

Advance admission to the Strawberry Festival is $8 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12.  Advance tickets can be purchased through the Florida Strawberry Festival website or at participating Sweetbay stores.  Normal gate admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12.  Kids 5 and under get in free.
