The 5k Zombie Run, a one-of-a-kind fitness event where willing participants run through a 3-mile trail from a horde of hungry zombies, is retuning to Tampa on Saturday, November 9.

Taking place at Lake Park in Lutz, this race from the undead is the place to be if you're looking for the closest thing you can get to The Walking Dead right now.

The race kicks off at 9 a.m. with waves continuing throughout the day until 4 p.m.  Participants can choose to be runners or zombies complete with real-life makeup provided and more.

Runners can pick a start time, head out, then be on their way to running for their lives from hordes of the undead through 3 miles of trails and swamps at Lake Park.  Runners will each get three flags on a belt they wear, which act as "lives".  Make it to the finish line with at least one flag and you've survived.  Lose all your flags, and you're infected (but still must finish as a runner).

Those that choose to be zombies will get to hide out along the course to prey on unsuspecting runners and their valuable flags.  Zombie participants will get complimentary makeovers from the expert make-up team on hand.

Awards and prizes will be given away to the top survivors.  All registrants receive a T-shirt, finisher medal, multiple free beers at a local pub and entry to the post-race Apocalypse party complete with music, food and more.

Registration is $90 per runner and $70 per zombie.  Best of all, if you enter "HALFOFF" at the registration page before September 30, you'll get a 50 percent discount on your registration purchase.
