Geek out and come to the second annual Tampa Bay LibCon, a free, family-friendly convention that’s about all things comics! This year, LibCon will be on May 13 at Tampa’s Jimmie B Keel Regional Library from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Southshore Regional Library in Ruskin from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Each location will have two guest speakers and special features as well as many fun activities for comic book lovers to enjoy!

There is Lots of Fun Planned for this Year's LibCon Tampa!

Come dressed up as your favorite comic book character and enter a cosplay contest! Make sure to register for the costume contest at LibCon to secure your entry. You can also sit in on panel discussions about comics, play Anime trivia, and watch cool robotics demonstrations. Other fun activities include a Super Smash Bros.Tournament, green screen photography, tabletop gaming, kids crafts, and face painting. There will also be vendors selling everything comics, anime, and manga as well as movies, games, and books.

Award-winning special guests will be speaking about their areas of expertise, which will be a treat for anyone interested in illustrating or writing comic books. At Jimmie B. Keel Library, there will be Marvel Comics illustrator Mike Perkins and graphic novel editor, writer, and publisher Chuck Dixon. Comic book editor, illustrator, and artist Nicola Cuti and Professor Michael White, who teaches comic book art at The Ringling College of Art, will be at the Southshore Regional Library.

For the Dr. Who fans, "Whovians," the Tampa Bay Tardis will also be at Jimmie B. Keel Library. The Florida-based fan group will bring a replica of the Tardis along with the group's founder, Leo Martin, who will be cosplaying as the Fifth Doctor. At the Southshore Regional Library, award-winning team Lennard Robotics will have live robotics demonstrations to show off their robots and skills. Since their founding in 2014, Lennard Robotics has placed first or second, in every event they have entered, including the Open Robotic Combat Competition and the NASA Egg Drop Challenge.

Whether you read comic books, are an aspiring artist, or just love superheroes, there’s something at LibCon for every member of the family.
