St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner and to celebrate, the city of Tampa is following the tradition of Chicago and dying the Hillsborough River green to celebrate the occasion.

Mayor Bob Buckhorn will host the inaugural Mayor’s River O’Green Fest on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in Downtown Tampa.  Amongst other attractions, the fest will feature food trucks, entertainment, and activities perfect for people of all ages.

The city of Tampa plans to dye the Hillsborough River between Cass Street Bridge and Kennedy Bridge.  In addition, there will be a number of food trucks on hand including Fire Monkey, Taco Bus, Burger Culture, Stinky Buns, Wicked Wiches, O'Macalicious, and more.

Local museums will provide a handful of activities for kids at the River O'Green Fest and there will be live Irish entertainment from 3 Pint Harmony, Scariff School of Irish Dance, and Tampa Gym and Dance to spread the Irish cheer.  Local sports teams will also provide entertainment with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fun Zone and the Tampa Bay Lightning Street Team on hand.

Best of all, the River O'Green Fest is completely FREE to attend.  Rally up some family or friends and head out to this great celebration of St. Patrick's Day in Tampa.
