Unless you're an avid archaeologist, chances are you don't get to see a huge collection of mummies and related artifacts from around the world all that often.  Lucky for us in Tampa, MOSI is currently hosting Mummies of the World, the largest exhibition of these mummies and related objects ever assembled, but only until September 9.

That's plenty of time to head out to North Tampa and see this once-in-a-lifetime and never-before-seen collection of mummies and more from South America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Egypt.  Mummies of the World features Egyptian and South American burial objects including amulets, statues and fragments from the Book of the Dead.

In addition to all of these rare artifacts, the exhibition will feature a handful of interactive, multimedia stations that will teach visitors how mummies are created and more through state-of-the-art 3d technology.  Each description provides amazing insight from researchers who've utilized the latest state-of-the-art scientific methods including Computer Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), DNA analysis, and radiocarbon dating.

Mummies of the World is a never-before-seen exhibition derived from the research of the Germany Mummy Project curated by the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums in Mannheim, Germany.  The research that went in to Mummies of the World was made possible  by contributions from 20 world-renowned museums and organizations across seven countries.
