Earlier today, the City of Tampa announced that it will host the second annual Mayor's River O'Green celebration of St. Patrick's Day at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park on Saturday, March 16.

This annual celebration follows cues from big cities like Chicago where the city will to dye a certain section of the Hillsborough River green to commemorate this Irish holiday.

Kicking off at 11 a.m., this family friendly celebration will feature an assortment of fun attractions as boats work to dye the river a bright green like you've never seen before.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn (an Irishman himself) will be on hand to commemorate the holiday.  There will also be a huge assortment of entertainment, food trucks and activities on hand to make the event complete.  The event will be free and open to the public, but you'll have to bring your own cash to purchase food and drinks.

In addition, any attendee who brings three non-perishable food items will get a green "Saint Patrick's Army" shirt provided by the folks at the Salvation Army.  Food items will benefit the Salvation Army and those in need they serve.

And, what would a St. Patrick's Day celebration be without some delicious beer?  The Tampa Downtown Partnership will be on hand selling beer including Guinness and Cigar City supplied by JJ Taylor Distribution.  Proceeds from all alcohol sales at Mayor's River O'Green will benefit Realm, the Downtown Partnership’s nonprofit, to program downtown parks.

Sound fun?  Get a dose of Irish cheer this upcoming St. Patrick's Day season and head to the Mayor's River O'Green celebration on Saturday, March 16.
