Published By Amanda K. Myers on 26 Jul 2017

Calling all nerds and otaku! MetroCon, Tampa’s greatest anime convention is back. During August 3-6, the Tampa Convention Center opens its doors to the fifteenth annual extravaganza centered around anime, not to mention comics, gaming, sci-fi/fantasy, and film.

This convention will burst with events like the Metro Star Party comedy show, the breathtaking Metro Fire Show, and the Anime Human Chess match, and more! There’s even an all-new event, known simply as The Masquerade, an evening of scenes, cosplay, and dancing to take place on Friday!

If you want to express your passion for anime, there are contests you can enter, such as the AMV contest(Anime Music Video) as well as  costume, and illustration contests.

There is even Anime Idol, which, as you might guess, is a contest where anime fans will sing their songs for all to hear!

Participate in workshops and panels with special guests from different outlets of anime: cosplay artists like Oliroux, and YouTube stars like Jonathan Young and Caleb Hyles, as well as voice actors like Christina Vee(Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, Sailor Moon). Vic Mignogna (Fullmetal Alchemist, Vampire Knight), and many well-known artists are scheduled to appear.

You can also visit the Convention website program for panel information about the “Animal Crossing Meet-Up “a videogame track, the Black Butler anime group, fantasy sword training with Kyle Rowling, and Nerd Non-Visible, an open discussion about those with disabilities and how they fit in the anime and cosplay industries.

MetroCon quite literally has a place for everyone, no matter what they are into, and whether it's one day or four, you will have a good time!

Tickets can be purchased by clicking the MetroCon link, starting at  $30 dollars. There’s even a deal for a four pack of four-day passes. There is so much to explore, way beyond what’s mentioned here!

Tampa is a paradise for all artists, so whatever your passion, whether it be anime, comics, or video games, you’ll fit right in! The convention is in two weeks, so hurry up and order those tickets!
