Construction is currently underway, and partially finished, on a new St. Joseph's Hospital branch called St. Joseph's South between Lincoln and Simmons Loop roads in Southshore.

The new $237 facility will take up approximately 72 acres which will include a 90-bed, full-service, acute care hospital; a three-story Medical Office Building; and a two-story, standalone office building according to the Tampa Tribune.

The medical office building portion of the hospital opened on July 1, which houses BayCare Outpatient Imaging, BayCare Laboratories and HealthPoint Medical Group's Patient-Centered Medical Home.  A longtime Apollo Beach physician, Frederick Taylor, D.O. plans to move his practice into the building becoming the first (with room for three more) to occupy the building, the Tribune reports.

This also comes as beneficial news when it comes to the market for jobs in Tampa and beyond.  St. Joseph's plans to hire staff members for about 500 new jobs at the new Southshore hospital and medical facility.  Those interested should visit BayCarejobs.com to get more information on available positions and the application process.

The entire St. Joseph's South facility is expected to open in 2015.
