The Tampa Bay Host Committee for the 2012 Republican National Convention and the Outdoor Arts Foundation (OAF) are partnering to bring a one-of-a-kind art installation to Downtown Tampa entitled Herd About Tampa Tampa Bay.

The outdoor and indoor installation will feature a handful of artistically designed, 4'x4' fiberglass elephants on display throughout Tampa businesses and community areas leading up to the 2012 Republican National Convention at the Tampa Bay Times Forum on August 27.

Many of the elephants will be placed inside the Tampa International Airport and the Tampa Convention Center in Downtown Tampa.  A handful will be unveiled in June, but most will roll out in August.

The Herd About Tampa Bay project will be similar to other fiberglass animal projects the city has hosted throughout the years including the Manatee Menagerie and the Tampa Bay Tour of Turtles hosted by the OAF.

Community members and local businesses are welcome to participate in the Herd About Tampa Bay project.  Each elephant requires a $2,000 flat fee which includes the price of all production and installation, artist fees, and extra OAF expenses.  Once the installation is over, community members and businesses can decide to keep the elephant or donate it to charity.
