I went on the safari last weekend, played with a stingray, fed a giraffe, made faces at the baby chimp and orangutan, oohed over the baby hippo, nibbled gourmet cupcakes and took a skyfari.
My Kenya? The Lowry Park Zoo. You can get close up and personal with all all God’s creatures great and small while drinking boutique wine and hand-crafter beers. Yes, it’s the 15th annual Lowry Park Zoo WaZoo in Tampa Florida, a fundraiser event.
The 2010 WaZoo is on August 7, 2010 and runs from 7:30-10:30 p.m and tickets range from $20 for Designated Drivers to $75 Beastly Beverage Club tickets. The event is rain or shine and you must be 21 to drink. Everyone must bring their driver’s license to get in as well as a ticket. General admission tickets are $58 and you can buy tickets by phone or online through August 6 at noon, and day of event tickets will be available.
Depending on your price of admission, partygoers enjoy some special swag. Beastly Beverage Club guests get access to the new Safari Lounge, an exclusive air conditioned space with it’s own deejay, food and specialty beers, and access 45 minutes early at their own VIP entrance.
Everyone gets to enjoy the animals although some, who would be bothered by large crowds, won’t be in their public cages.
Animal ambassadors and their keepers greet guests, and craft brews and food tasting stations cater to strolling animal lovers. All proceeds from the Tampa WaZoo 2010 go to the care of the Zoo’s animals who require mountains of fruits, veggies, insects and other delectable’s.
