If you've been you know.  Part of the Skipper's Smokehouse charm - in addition to great food and live music - is it's old, rustic setting in North Tampa.

Adorned with tons of old signs and knick knacks, wood benches, and a cool hippie vibe throughout, Skipper's is the place to be for some of the best and most intimate outdoor concerts in the bay area.

But, in all its old and rustic glory, Skippers still has to keep up with times.  So, they're replacing their charming, but old (20 to be exact) palm thatched outdoor roof with something a little more sturdy, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reports.

According to the Skipper's Facebook page, the new roof will provide shade and cover for concertgoers and diners with a metal top, pressure-treated plywood underneath, and foam insulation to keep it all sturdy.

Construction should wrap up in a month, the Journal reports.

Skipper's will keep putitng on its regular rotation of concerts as construction continues with Jason D. Williams w/Professor Pennygoode's Mighty Flea Circus and 6 Volt Rodeo as well as Beth McKee with Colin Lake expected to perform this weekend.
