They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but we beg to differ. Sometimes, nothing hits the spot quite like the "fourth meal" that falls in between dinner and breakfast,  especially if you spent a night out on the town. By that time, you've worked up an appetite because you probably burned a ton of calories at a bar or club dance floor. Whatever you've been up to, when the munchies call, hit up these late night restaurants in Fort Lauderdale.

New York Grilled Cheese Co.

Grilled cheese sandwiches are one of those childhood favorites that have held up surprisingly well in adulthood. New York Grilled Cheese Co., however, takes the classic grilled cheese sandwiches to another level with creations including everything from caramelized onions, pulled pork, chicken, and more. And, since they're open until 3 a.m., it's an ideal landing spot after a fun night out.

Lester's Diner

Diners are the original late night eating destination, so there are few better places to chow down than Ft. Lauderdale's oldest diner. Lester's Diner first opened its doors in the 1960s, making it a veritable South Florida institution with classic American at affordable prices. Saying the menu is varied may is an understatement as it boasts about 70 different sandwiches, which is more than any other restaurant we've come across.

New River Pizza Incorporated

You're searching for a few things when on the hunt for late night eats in Ft. Lauderdale: carbs, grease, and cheese. Those just happen to be the main ingredients of most late night ventures, and New River Pizza happily obliges in offering not only great late night food but some of the best pies in the county. And it's open until 4 a.m., so there's plenty of time to grab a slice at this restaurant after bar hopping.

Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar

A good taco is hard to beat at any time of day, especially late at night. There's definitely a reason Taco Bell coined the term "Fourth Meal," but if you'd prefer to avoid fast food and slow drive-thrus, Rocco's has you covered. Conveniently located on Las Olas Boulevard, it's just a short walk away from a lot of the action. Rocco's offers its full menu until midnight, but opens up its late night menu at 1:00 a.m. until its 3:00 a.m. close.

Primanti Brothers Pizza & Grill

Like we said, pizza has the key ingredients required for post-midnight dining, and the Primanti Brothers fulfill all the requirements for excellent late-night eats at its beach location that is open 24 hours. So in the event your evening escapades extend into the wee hours of the morning, you've got at least one great place to dig in on the beach.

Southport Raw Bar

If pizza and tacos are the first things that come to mind when you think of late night eats, seafood is probably the last, but that's what makes popping into Southport Raw Bar such a treat. It adds a bit of variety to the menu for weekend warriors, and is there really a wrong time of day to eat clams, shrimp, and oysters? We'd say no.

If there's such a thing as a dive pizza bar, Beach Pizza is it. This restaurant hits the spot whether you're bumming around Laudy Beach in the middle of the day or stumbling over from American Social Las Olas just a few blocks up the road well after dark.

Georgie's Alibi

You don't need an alibi to swing over this spot: the food is that good! Georgie's menu is impossible not to enjoy with late night favorites like chicken wings, burgers, and cheese fries. Make sure to bring your appetite because the portions are generous!

The Field Irish Pub & Eatery

Taking a step into this quaint eatery feels like you hopped on a flight to Ireland. The Field Irish Pub is that authentic with its menu featuring hot lamb stews and fish and chips as well as an expansive beer selection. You've hit the luck of the Irish when you're grubbing here!
