Hitting the beach is one of the best things to do in Miami, but it's even better when you're able to bring your best fur friend with you. Check out our list of dog-friendly beaches in Miami so you know which beaches will allow you bring your pup along for a bright, sandy afternoon!

Hobie Island Beach Park

A favorite among pet owners is Hobie Island Beach Park. This dog-friendly beach in Miami gets packed and is relatively small, so be sure to get there early to enjoy a full day in the water. The view here is definitely a plus as it's filled with lush palm trees and, beyond the water, you can see the city skyline. Also, the water level is perfect for dogs! There are not many waves, and it's shallow for a good while until the water deepens. Your dog will absolutely love running through the water and  playing fetch here.

Haulover Beach Dog Park

Is your dog a runner? Then this dog-friendly beach park is for you. There is plenty of space for your pup to run around and release all his pent-up energy. They also provide a smaller dog area in case you have a little guy. The park part is before the actual beach, where then there is no barrier as the dogs are allowed to be let off-leash and roam the beach as they please. Parking here is $7; although some other beaches don't charge, it's certainly worth it.

Historic Virginia Key Beach Park

The Historic Virginia Key Beach Park is still a dog-friendly beach in Miami, and it's a wonderful choice if you're looking for peace and quiet. The water here is calm and usually warm, and the beach is clean and well-kept. They also have grills and picnic areas, so this is a great option for families looking to spend the day at the beach with their beloved pet. This beach closes at, so plan to leave by then.

North Shore Open Space Park

Another great family fun day location is the North Shore Space Park. Known to be "off the beaten path" from the craziness of Miami, this dog-friendly beach is peaceful and relaxing with plenty to do to entertain the children and the dog. They have a dog park perfect for taking your dog off his leash while he roams and plays while you can have a cookout, picnic, or family games. The beach is just behind the park in case you'd like to take a dip in the ocean!

Dog Beach of Hollywood

If you are willing to drive 25 minutes, Hollywood Dog Beach would be a great place to take the dog for a weekend trip. Friday through Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., your pups are allowed to come and enjoy the day with you. This dog-friendly beach usually isn't very crowded, and the dogs have a great timing running around in such a large, sandy space. They also have a nice walkway on the shore, making it a nice place to stroll for a little while your dog dries off before heading back home.
