When was the last time you spent a good chunk of time at the park?  A few days ago?  Weeks?  Years?  Maybe it's less than you'd like, or maybe it's just right.

Either way, city parks are a great way to not only get outside and active, but save money while doing it since they're all typically free to get into.

One Tampa park, Al Lopez Park, is a 126-acre hub for all types of recreation in this beautiful city.

Named after the famed Major League Baseball catcher and manager, Al Lopez, this Dale Mabry park offers a plethora of activities perfectly suited for adults and kids alike.

Al Lopez Park boasts two ponds with one you can actually fish in, a feature not widely available in city parks across Tampa.

If fishing isn't your thing, you can enjoy biking, rollerblading, jogging, or simply walking on one of the hiking trails that snake around the park.

Team sports more your thing?  Check out any of the open spaces in the park for a pick-up soccer game or gather some friends for a baseball or softball game on one of their fields.

Al Lopez is dog-friendly as well, offering a vast, open, and fenced-in dog park for Fido to run around and socialize on the west end of the park.

If you're looking for an affordable option for your next gathering, say, a meeting, family reunion, birthday party, or something similar, check out the picnic pavilions at Al Lopez.  They cost anywhere from $80 to $320 and can accomodate groups from 20 to over 200 people.  Picnic pavillions at the park offer electricity, water spigots, grills, and lighting.

As you can see, Al Lopez is a hub for all things fun, free, and active in the Bay Area.  Head down there today, bring some friends, and see what it's all about!
