After its debut in November 2016, St. Petersburg-based Better Byrd is now opening a second location in Tampa this fall. The new restaurant will come to Hyde Park and fill the vacancy left by gourmet doughnut shop Piquant at 1633 West Snow Avenue.

Better Byrd is part of the Ciccio Restaurant family along with Green Lemon, Daily Eats, Ciccio Cali, Ciccio Water, and Fresh Kitchen, which conjoins their original location. All but Ciccio Cali have Hyde Park locations, and Better Byrd will now join its flock of successful sister restaurants in the trendy Soho District.

In just one year, Better Byrd gained a large following with their delicious chicken and fresh, made-to-order mini doughnuts. They describe their restaurant concept as “fast food re-imagined” using only 100% steroid and hormone-free chicken. Better Byrd is also different from the typical chicken joint with a menu of zany fried chicken creations, some which are colorfully named liked their Motherclucker sandwich with Buttermilk fried chicken, crispy French fries, and sriracha queso on a potato bun. While its name is tamer, the Mac & Byrd has attention-grabbing flavor with creamy jalapeno-bacon macaroni and cheese.

In addition to sandwiches, Better Byrd has addictive chicken wings and tenders with a host of sauces as well as fried chicken bowls with unexpected ingredients like quinoa, couscous, ramen noodles, and even sweet potato tots. Their sides are also anything but basic like truffle garlic Parmesan fries, sweet potato tots with creamy maple dip, and Peruvian slaw.

At Better Byrd, you can mix and match meals for fun, new flavors with their a la carte food menu, and beverages include Fountainhead sodas made with real cane sugar as well as local coffee, beer, and craft sodas.

For dessert, try a pack of Better Byrd’s famous mini doughnuts. Made fresh, their mini doughnuts come in over a dozen different toppings like maple and bacon, fruity pebbles, lemon-hibiscus, and snickers, just to name a few. These delectable minis are guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Better Byrd's Tampa location will also serve frozen cocktails and weekend brunch with a mimosa bar. In St. Petersburg, sometimes mid-morning meals are accompanied by the songs and talents of local artists, and there will surely be no shortage of great performances at the new restaurant.

Just like in St. Petersburg, the Better Byrd location in Tampa will open for lunch and dinner as well as weekend brunch. However, unlike the original, the Better Byrd Tampa locale will have exclusive features including a full bar and dine-in service in a portion of the restaurant.

The Better Byrd in South Tampa is set to open in fall 2017. Register on 813area.com to stay connected for details about the Better Byrd's grand opening in Tampa and other great restaurants in the Bay area.
