Great food and great live music.  It's like peanut butter and jelly, ketchup and mustard, Batman and Robin; you don't really know why, but the two, hand in hand, just kind of work.

It's hard to think of anywhere that does the two better than Skipper's Smokehouse in North Tampa.  Over 30 years old and still rockin' it like the day they opened, Skipper's brings in musical talent from around the world and serves up renowned southern food to all the visitors and locals who love it.

This isn't some rinky-dink, tiny stage venue either.  The Skipperdome, as they like to call it, is their full-service outdoor venue and stage perfectly situated for a modest-sized concert.  It's obvious music is a main focus at Skipper's and not something to just add to the dining experience.

Notable bands like the Black Keys, the Legendary Shack Shakers, the Yonder Mountain String band, and the Avett Brothers have all taken the stage at Skippers during their careers.

And, since 1994, Skipper's has been appeasing Tampa-area Dead fans with Grateful Dead night every Thursday where local bands rock out and cover a wide variety of Grateful Dead tunes.

You can't forget about the food at Skipper's Smokehouse either.  From raw oysters on the half-shell to jerk chicken and seemingly everything in between, Skipper's knows their smoky comfort food and isn't afraid to show it.  Other menu highlights include smoked mullet, ribs, beer boiled shrimp, and a blackened grouper rueben that was actually just featured on the Travel Channel show, Man vs. Food Nation.

Does this sound like an awesome time to you?  It sure does to us.  Head down to Skipper's and see what they're all about today!
