Congratulations! We are three weeks into the New Year and you have had more "On" days than "Off" . It's time to celebrate life’s greatest indulgence, food, on National Cheat Day! as mayor Bob Buckhorn and the Datz family of restaurants declare January 28th, National Cheat Day to the world!
National Days are often created organically, growing from popular social trends and sharing.
Thanks to Datz and Mayor Bob we have a unique opportunity to originate a National Holiday this January 28th. As we continue to pursue our New Year's resolutions NOW is the perfect time to take a 'break' with National Cheat Day, have some fun and reward our efforts. Nutritionist Marissa Lippert, RD, author of, The Cheater's Diet recommends indulgence with 'splurge meals' as a way to stay on track!
No one can be or should be good 100% of the time when it comes to food!
Wiki defines cheating as 'the getting of a reward' or 'breaking of rules'. Jim White, R.D., owner of Jim White Fitness training studios and a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics believes that without the occasional splurge our resolve dissolves!
Food is life's greatest indulgence, David NW. Grotto, RD, LD, author of 101 Foods That Can Save Your Life says, "I think splurging on a diet is mandatory, not an option. No sweets, no cream sauces, no chips, no wine, equals no fun!" he believes, "You can have your weight loss and eat cake, too as long as you "cheat" on your diet the sensible way." The key to maintaining sensible weight loss he says, "is deciding what you are going to splurge on, how much you will have, eating it with full consciousness, licking your lips, then moving on with your life!"
Join the fun! Share your “cheat day” food using the hashtag #NationalCheatDay on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook this January 28th from ANY city, restaurant, or your home.
