Saladworks is a new, fast-casual restaurant in Brandon specializing in an assortment of customizable and speciality salads, soups, panini sandwiches, and more.  It's a simple concept.  They're definitely not paving any new trails, but they do what they do well, and that can always be appreciated.

Located in a shopping center alongside Outback Steakhouse on Brandon Boulevard, Saladworks operates much like a Subway or other similar sandwich joint where you go down the assembly line picking and choosing the ingredients you want in your desired meal.  There are a handful of pre-set salads and sandwiches too if the whole customization thing is too much.

So yeah, nothing super-novel or groundbreaking, but, at least from this experience, Saladworks will give you a fresh, well-crafted, and generously-portioned salad that'll satisfy the craving.

I went with the buffalo-bleu salad which comes loaded with a romaine and iceberg lettuce blend, chicken tossed in buffalo sauce, grape tomatoes, banana peppers, crumbled bleu cheese, and zesty tortilla strips all tossed in bleu cheese dressing.

Even for obviously pre-cooked and out-of-the-bag chicken, the protein portion of the salad wasn't bad.  The chicken was surprisingly fork-tender and enhanced by a healthy, but not egregious dousing of spicy buffalo sauce.  Tortilla strips add a bit of texture and the grape tomatoes provided a commendable, sweet contrast to the zesty flavors of the buffalo and blue cheese.

All salads come with a roll, too, which is an appreciated touch, but I'm pretty sure one of these things could count as a deadly weapon if you pegged someone hard enough with it.

Overall, Saladworks knows their niche and executes well.  Nothing less, nothing more.  Give them a try and see if you agree.  Don't forget to give your own rating and review on the Saladworks 813area business listing.
