Trivia every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. has come to be very popular, and the restaurant regularly hosts local artists with Paint and Sip nights, community clubs, and even open mic nights for local comedians to try out new material. There are also plenty of televisions to make sure you can see what is happening in the game, but not overwhelming so you can hang out with friends and make new ones.
And since this is a gathering place, the traditional bar activities include dart boards, cornhole and more.
The Strawberry Tap's Cuban sandwich and tater tots
The events are great and fun, but the key to any restaurant being successful is the food. The Best Damn Burgers are amazing, made with buns from the famous La Segunda Bakery in Ybor City. Pictured at the top of this article is the Plant City Burger, which is a half-pound burger patty cooked to your specifications. If you are feeling more adventurous, try the Bourbon Candied Apple Burger, consisting of bourbon candied apple, thick cut bacon, and bleu cheese crumbles. Burgers and sandwiches at The Strawberry Tap arrive with delicious golden tater tots on the side, different than the French fries served at most restaurants. As someone who loves all potato-based foods, this is great!
The sandwich menu includes standards you would expect: B.L.T., Cuban, and grilled cheese mixed in with some unique offerings such as The Elvis (roast pork tossed in a house-made chili-peanut sauce, banana custard and a toasted brioche bun). For people interested in healthier options, the downtown Plant City restaurant offers salads, including a strawberry, gorgonzola, and walnut salad.
The Strawberry Tap might be new, but it has an experienced staff to guide you through a solid cocktail selection, along with a rotating list of local craft beers and wines. Stop in to see their current list of offerings!
