Hillsborough County Spending $6.25 Million to Lure Bass Pro Shops

Published By Andrew Silverstein on 20 Feb 2013

Earlier this morning, the Hillsborough County Commission approved the spending of $6.25 million in public subsidies to lure in a new Bass Pro Shops location planned for the Brandon area.

The Commission voted 6-1 in favor of spending the public subsidy - for road improvements and other features - to incentivize the Bass Pro Shops to build a new location at the intersection of Interstate 75 and Falkenburg Road in Brandon.

After Bass Pro Shops long back and forth period with the Brandon area - riddled with a near-lawsuit against a Valrico small business with a similar logo, delayed county votes, and developer disputes - it looks like this outdoor retail giant will finally be able to call Brandon home.

We'll keep you posted as more news arises regarding Bass Pro Shops in Brandon.
