Founding USF football head coach and current San Francisco linebackers coach, Jim Leavitt could very well find himself with a Super Bowl ring following a potential 49ers victory over the Baltimore Ravens this upcoming Sunday.

During his career with the USF Bulls football program - from the team's inception in 1997 until 2009 - Leavitt lead the team to a number of notable benchmarks including the USF Bulls' admittance into the contentious Big East division back in 2005.

Leavitt was also at the helm during the team's first time ever time breaking the top 25, with a #23 rank in the AP Poll and #24 in the Coaches' Poll which eventually climbed as high as #2 back in 2007.

Following his controversial firing in 2009, Leavitt left the USF football organization with an overall record of 94-57 during his tenure.

Success has apparently stayed close to Leavitt since his departure from USF.   Currently working as the linebackers coach for the San Francisco 49ers, Leavitt could very well be adding a Super Bowl win to his resume following a potential 49ers victory over the Baltimore Ravens at Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans taking place this upcoming Sunday, February 3.

"The 49ers are such a great organization, and I'm very close to Eddie DeBartolo and his daughter Lisa, and that connection is very good for me," Leavitt told 10 News from a 49ers practice session in New Orleans last week.

Jim Leavitt and the San Francisco 49ers will square off against the Baltimore Ravens and retiring defensive legend Ray Lewis in Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans on Sunday, February 3.  The game will kick off at 6:30 p.m. EST with local broadcast on CBS and 10 News.
