It’s almost like the NFL Draft.  Except NFL Free Agency involves fewer players at much bigger money.  Like sugarplums at Christmas, Bucs’ fans can see playoff tickets dancing in their heads! Those dreams can come true should GM Jason Licht make the right decisions during free agency this week.

Free Agency | It's Like Christmas to a Bucs Fan This Year

WR DeSean Jackson looks like a lock to sign with the Bucs, that's if you believe the various reports coming out this past week.  The Bucs need speed and Jackson has speed.  He’s got a good track record but he’s also got some baggage.  He’s a diva, but honestly, there aren’t too many NFL wide receivers who aren’t.  And Jackson is 30 years old.  Receivers start to lose their speed around 30.

Will Licht pay DeSean Jackson the reported $12 million per year he’s asking for?

I’m a little iffy on Jackson, I would prefer Alshon Jeffery but he hasn’t been completely healthy in 2 years.  So, Jason, if you want my advice, go with Jackson’s asking price of $12 million, but not 5 years.  I wouldn’t go more than 3, see if he’ll take it.

Either way, even if you do sign a WR in free agency, and draft one in April as well… perhaps even  John Ross in the 1st round.

The Bucs have a big need at receiver, so bring in a bunch to camp… can’t have too much depth.

And one more free agent note.. good luck to Mike Glennon, who looks like he’s ready to cash in.  The Bears are very interested.  The Bucs offered the biggest backup QB contract ever, but Glennon reportedly wants to play, not sit on the bench.  Who can blame him? Go for the playing time, Mike, and best of luck.
