The Tampa Bay Lightning recently announced their 82-game schedule for the upcoming 2013-14 season with a kickoff slated for Thursday, October 3 in Boston.

In addition to aligning with the newly-formed Atlantic Division - part of the NHL's new four division format - the Lightning will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of their first Stanley Cup win over the Calgary Flames back in 2004.

The introduction of the NHL's new four division format puts the Lightning in a division alongside soon-to-be frequent opponents including the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, Ottawa Senators, and state neighbors, the Florida Panthers.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will face each of these teams four times during the course of their season with hopes of nabbing one of the top three spots in the division (or one of the two conference wild card spots) to make the playoffs.

The first home game of the Lightning's 2013-14 season will take place on Thursday, October 10 against the Panthers at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.  The lightning will host each of the other 29 in the NHL at the Forum at least once throughout the course of their 82-game season.

The season will culminate as the Tampa Bay Lightning celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the franchises first and only Stanley Cup win over the Calgary Flames on June 7, 2004.

No word yet on any special events celebrating the anniversary, but we'll keep you posted as more news arises.
