The Crucible
by Arthur Miller
Directed by Madison Claire Rice
Winner of the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play, this gripping drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem is a timely parable of our contemporary society. The story focuses on a young farmer, his wife, and a young servant-girl who maliciously causes the wife’s arrest for witchcraft. The farmer brings the girl to court to admit the lie – and it is here that a monstrous course of bigotry and deceit is terrifyingly unleashed.
The Crucible is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
AUDITION DATES:
Sunday, July 28th, 2019 - 7 p.m.
AND
Monday, July 29th, 2019 - 7 p.m.
Auditions are at Carrollwood Players Theatre
4333 Gunn Highway, Tampa, FL, 33618
PRODUCTION DATES:
October 11th – November 2nd, 2019
Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 3 pm
Tech Week:
Sun. October 6 - Thu. October 10
Must be available for all tech week rehearsals and all performances.

Headshots and resumes are encouraged but not required.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

John Proctor - Male - 30 to 50
A local farmer who lives just outside of town, Elizabeth Proctor's husband. A stern, harsh-tongued man, John hates hypocrisy & tries to be a stand-up guy. Nevertheless, he has a hidden sin, his affair with Abigail Williams, that proves his downfall. When the hysteria begins, he tries to save his wife, yet hesitates to expose Abigail as a fraud because he worries that his secret will be revealed and his good name ruined. Caged by guilt, Proctor journeys to regain his self-respect & redemption
Abigail Williams - Female - 18 to 22
Reverend Parris' niece, Abigail was once the servant for the Proctor household, but was fired by Elizabeth Proctor after she discovered that Abigail was having an affair with her husband, John. Abigail is smart, wily, vengeful, ma
