Description

Ever wonder what the glamorous female guests of the Tampa Bay Hotel packed in their trunks to wear during their fashionable vacation? What did a lady need to bring on a Florida vacation in the 1890s? Ms. Franklin will answer these questions and more!

Event Details

“Fabulous Fashions: The Ladies at the Tampa Bay Hotel” will explore these questions. Come learn about the complex wardrobes of the Hotel’s guests that included day dresses, golf and tennis ensembles, bathing suits, bicycling skirts, and ball gowns.

The talk will be given by Harper Franklin, a graduate student in Fashion and Textile Studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. The event is free and will be held in the Music Room of Plant Hall. Everyone is also encouraged to attend the wonderful Victorian Christmas Stroll happening at the same time at the Museum! The Museum is decorated lavishly for the holidays with cider and cookies on the veranda. (For more information see the Museum website.)
